STAS GINZBURG
2020-2025
This body of work forms part of an ongoing visual archive centered on queer and trans presence within spaces of public dissent. Since 2020, Ginzburg has engaged in a sustained portrait practice at marches, rallies, and direct actions, capturing his LGBTQ+ siblings in straightforward yet intentional compositions that embody visibility, defiance, and authenticity.
The 100 portraits presented here operate as a collective document—an evolving testament to a community in motion. As queer and trans lives face renewed threats of legislative erasure and structural violence, these images function as both witness and counter-narrative, preserving a lineage of queer activism and radical presence. Each time the gallery loads, an algorithm reshuffles the portraits, creating new and unexpected relationships. This shifting arrangement resists fixed narratives, reflecting the fluid and collective nature of queer and trans liberation.
