On May 10, 2025, Brighton Beach Pride returned to the historic Riegelmann Boardwalk for its ninth year, bringing together queer and trans immigrants, many from former Soviet Union countries, for a powerful and joyful march. Organized by Qaravan and led by Maxim, this grassroots event continues to offer a vital space for visibility, celebration, and resistance. Set against the iconic backdrop of Coney Island, the 2025 march featured chants, live orchestra beats, and unwavering community energy. This year’s action was dedicated to defending the rights of trans immigrants—one of the most marginalized and increasingly targeted groups under the current U.S. administration.

For many attendees, the rising wave of anti-LGBTQ legislation in the U.S. brings an unsettling sense of déjà vu, echoing the very conditions of fear, surveillance, and erasure they once fled. As political threats grow, BBP remains committed to protecting its most vulnerable participants while fostering joy, protest, and connection.
